On Saturday, March 14, 2026, I attended a memorial for Adam Sacks in Cambridge, MA. It was entitled “Celebration of Life.” Adam died on February 1, 2026.
Adam Sacks was a most important mentor to me during the entire conception, production, and release of Regenerating Life.
Adam was a co-founder and leader of the organization Biodiversity for a Livable Climate. This organization, now headed by Beck Mordini, continues to be an ally in my film ventures.
I met Adam after he saw Symbiotic Earth. Adam was the first activist I had ever met who yelled at the top of his lungs and with all his heart that we must include biology in the study of climate change because it is biology that controls the climate!
.
He introduced me to many people who I interviewed for Regenerating Life, and his Compendium of Scientific and Practical Findings Supporting Eco-Restoration to Address Global Warming became a valuable resource to me.
When I made Symbiotic Earth and Regenerating Life, I drew upon the wisdom, experience, and contacts of a network of people, and often I interviewed them. That’s what makes this work so rewarding and fun.As I was making Symbiotic Earth and talking to Lynn Margulis’s friends and colleagues, I realized that we each live on through the good will we leave behind.
Adam left behind a lot of good will, and he will continue to be an inspiration to me. I’ll miss him greatly,
John Feldman, Spencertown, NY
